1. EWE Building Plastics organises the Big Birthday Giveaway which is open to all individuals aged 18 years or older who attend the EWE Building Plastics 20th anniversary Open day, except for employees of EWE Building Plastics and their immediate family members.
2. By participating in the raffle, entrants fully and unconditionally agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
3. The raffle will be held during the roadshow events at each branch location between June and August 2023. Participants can enter the raffle by filling out an official entry slip at the roadshow events. Only one entry per person is allowed.

There are major changes to building regulations which will apply to all window and door installations in England from June 15th 2022. This is on all installations whether they be on new builds, extensions or even replacement windows and doors in existing properties. The good news is that EWE Building Plastics are able to provide compliant solutions on all of our product ranges including Profile 22 Optima PVC windows, doors, composites and Stellar aluminium windows, doors and bifolds!

Part L: Window & Door U Values

As part of the Government’s effort to meet the Future Homes Standard and improve energy efficiency in all housing, the U Values requirements are being improved with the lowering of All domestic property replacement windows and doors to a maximum U Value of 1.4.

On new builds and extensions the window U Value requirement is down to 1.2 (notional value) and between 1.0 and 1.2 on doors (dependent on the glazed area). This means that it can be higher (up to a maximum U Value of 1.6), however, there has to be a trade off calculation with a lower U value on another part of the property e.g. roof etc. Note that designing to a 1.6 window U value is unlikely to result in compliance.

If you are in any doubt please seek assistance and clarification from your local building regulations officer.

Part F: Trickle Ventilation:

New Part F building regulations will apply to almost all new windows on both new build properties AND replacement windows. This means that in most instances you will have to install a window with trickle vents.

The main reason for this is that Public Health England’s 2020 guidance highlighted the importance of ventilation in properties to reduce volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and harmful pollutants. This has been worsened by properties now being built and renovated with products that improve the airtightness of the property, hence an increased requirement for ventilation.

Essentially the rules have been simplified so that the trickle ventilation required depends on the room type within the property. There are higher ventilation requirements on single storey properties and flats.

There are exceptions to the rules e.g. windows in a utility room or WC for instance don’t need vents and if mechanical ventilation with a heat recovery system is installed you may also not need trickle ventilation in the property at all.

Every day 7 young people aged 13-24 are told they have cancer and are often left scared and isolated as their life is thrown into chaos. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity that is solely focused on supporting them.

They have built 28 specialist units across the UK, fund specialist nurses and youth co-ordinators and are now building a nursing and support programme that allows young people the choice of being treated in their local hospital or at home.

What can our fundraising can pay for?

Help us help Teenage Cancer Trust reach more young people as currently for every 1 person they reach 1 person will miss out.

We will be raising money throughout the year from in branch donations, raffles and our great employees will be taking part in a variety of events from 5 a side football to a 24 hour team run.

Our Welsh and English branches are going head to head in EWE’s five a side match in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. The staff from the Welsh branches will be coming together to form a mighty force against the powerful English branches.

Support your team by entering our raffle, and you could win an Apple watch series 3, £50 Love2shop voucher or a £25 EWE Building Plastics voucher.

Choose between Wales or England and buy a raffle ticket for the corresponding team. If that team is victorious, we will be drawing the winning tickets at random from their raffle tickets.

All monies raised by the raffle will be donated to The Teenage Cancer Trust.

Entering the Show Your Support Raffle:

• Tickets are not to be sold to, sold by, or bought on behalf of anyone under 16 years of age. Any tickets bought by or on behalf of somebody under the age of 16 will be rejected from the draw and the money returned to them.
• Raffle is open to residents of mainland Great Britain only (this excludes Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands).
• Employees as well as relatives of such persons, are unable to enter the Raffle.
• Participation in this raffle costs £2 per raffle ticket.
